As well as being a sci-fi geek, I also adore period dramas, especially Jane Austen stories. In 2011 I travelled to England with my husband and daughter and one of the locations we visited was Chatsworth House. I was engaging in Film Tourism, and didn't even realize it!
Located in North Derbyshire, Chatsworth House, also known as Speedwell House, was the setting of Pemberley, Mr Darcy's home in the 2005 film version of Pride and Prejudice.
The grand staircase and ceiling of the Painted Hall where Lizzie and the Gardiners start their tour of Pemberley:
The Sculpture Gallery was used in the scene where Lizzie Bennet sees the bust of Mr Darcy:
The veiled Vestal Virgin sculpture from the same scene:
The house was being renovated when we visited, but I believe the renovations are complete now.
