The Pandorica Opens

fandomtravelblog

In Beacon, New York State, there is a Doctor Who themed restaurant called The Pandorica.

Centrepiece in this amazing restaurant is the giant replica of Van Gogh's Exploding TARDIS painting.

There is a miniture replica of the Pandorica

A vase of daisies, inspired by Van Gogh's Daisy painting that was dedicated to Amy

The crack in the wall that followed the Eleventh Doctor around for that entire life:

We were allowed to stay after the restaurant shut to watch the latest Doctor Who episode

Going by the above image that may have been Into The Dalek? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

This was the door to the ladies room:

And, oh look, the console room is inside the ladies room!

The owner, Shirley, came out to chat with us. Sorry the photos are of such poor quality, my camera doesn't work well in the dark

The service was really good and a lot of the food was Doctor Who inspired. There are also pictures painted by local artists of Doctor Who characters. I wasn't allowed to take photos of those.

Things to know

Address: 165 Main Street, Beacon NY 12508

Phone: 845 831 6287

Open: Sunday  & Monday  12-5:30, Wednesday through Saturday 12-8:30. When the latest series is being shown on TV, you can stay behind to watch if you have booked into dinner that night. At least that's how it worked when Doctor Who was shown on a Saturday night. I don't know what they did last year when it was shown on a Sunday night. Perhaps they stayed open later during the series. You would have to ask when you ring up to book.

Press - Steven Moffat, Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman have good things to say about the place

Gallery - for better photos than mine.

If you love Doctor Who and are travelling to New York, I highly recommend taking a detour to Beacon to visit this great restaurant.
