The Great Lawn
Of course, Central Park features a lot it Pop Culture, including Doctor Who.
In the Series three two-parter, Daleks in Manhattan / Evolution of the Daleks, The Great Lawn features as "Hooverville", the shanty town for the homeless during the Great Depression from 1931 to 1933. It was formed by draining the Central Park Reservoir.
Hill Near Woolman Rink
This is the rock where the 11th Doctor, Amy and Rory sat reading in the Series 7 episode, The Angels Take Manhatton. Sorry about the poor lighting, we didn't find the rock until dusk.
Bow Bridge
This is where the Doctor reads from the Melody Malone book.
From the wrong angle, but it still gives you a good look at this pretty bridge. This is also where the Doctor rushes back to the picnic site to find the last page of the book.
Bethesda Fountain
The spot where Rory heads back to the picnic with some coffee.
Bench
Site of the emotional scene where the Doctor reads the last page of the book.
It took us all day, but we managed to find all the significant Central Park filming locations.
Guided Tours
For $US26 you can take a two-hour tour guided by actors to see the Central Park filming locations of many movies and tv shows, including Doctor Who.
I am very soon hoping to become an online travel consultant. When I do, I will post the link to my business website where I will be able to help you book tours like this as well as other facets of your vacation, such as plane tickets and accommodation.
